The work of preparing articles for the journal of The Augustan Society, Inc., ''The [[Augustan Omnibus|The Augustan Omnibus]]'', is greater than might be expected of the [[Omnibus Editor|''Omnibus'' Editor]]. Thus he generally appoints one or more '''''Omnibus '' Associate Editors''' to assist him.
The duties of an ''Omnibus '' Associate Editor include:
* Editing articles assigned to them for readability, grammar and spelling, proper citation format, spot-checks of sources as may seem needed, soliciting or finding suitable artwork (at least one image per article), and such other work as may be needed.
* Contacting the author as needed for clarification of text or citations, and to solicit illustrations. Note that all illustrations must be vetted by the ''Omnibus '' Editor to ensure copyright clearance.
* Requesting assistance from the ''Omnibus '' Editor for such work as they are unable to do on account of skills or software deficiencies. This normally includes the creation of genealogical charts and may include basic formatting when software is at issue.
* Advising the ''Omnibus '' Editor if they feel an article should not be published for some reason.
* Recusing themselves if there is some reason it would not be appropriate for them to edit an article.
* Reporting as requested, but not less than semi-annually on the articles they have been assigned, their status, any obstacles to completing the work, and their time spent (this last may be combined with other volunteer work for the Society, itemization isn't required or useful).
* And such additional tasks as the ''Omnibus '' Editor may request of them.
The specific articles assigned to each ''Omnibus '' Associate Editor will be matched to that individuals interests, to the extent possible. For this reason, the ''Omnibus '' Editor should be informed of their interests.
