The Most heraldic activities of The Augustan Society, Inc., are under the direction of the '''Heraldry Committee'''. The Committee Chairman , styled "Justiciar General", is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the [[President]], and said Chairman . The Justiciar General appoints all other members of the Committee and , with the Chairman of other committees in the Heraldry Department[[President]] and [[Headquarters Staff]] as ex officio members.

While it is recommended that they be appointed to the Heraldry Committee, it is not required.ex officio

[[Heraldic Artists]] are members of the committee, but do not vote, as they would generally be voting on their own work. An Heraldic Artist who is also a Vice-Justiciar may vote according to his status as a Vice-Justiciar. ==Heraldry Committee Duties== <ul><li>To create and grant [[Society Arms and Logos|Arms and Logos]] to the various [[Sub-Groups]], Committees, [[Study Groups]], and Officers of the Society as may find need of them;</li> <li>To assist members and non-members with the design of armorial achievements, and with registering or obtaining grants from national agencies;</li> <li>To register arms for members and non-members;</li> <li>To answer heraldic research questions put to the Society (paid or unpaid, the latter limited to brief or easy questions);</li> <li>To advise the [[Library]] on the accessions, organization, and deaccessons;</li> <li>To solicit articles for ''[[Augustan Omnibus|The Omnibus]]'' on the topic of heraldry;</li> <li>To provide at least one item per year for ''[[August&aelig;um]]'';</li> <li>To submit a report of activities and plans to the [[Board|Board of Directors]] annually and as the Board or [[President]] may request.</li></ul>
