The '''Assistant Treasurer ''' is elected annually by the [[Board|Board of Directors]] upon the nomination of the [[Treasurer]]. His duties include:
#* Acting in the absence of the Treasurer or in the event of his inability or refusal to act; and#* Such duties as may be assigned to him by the Treasurer or by the Board of Directors.
In practice, specific tasks include:
#* Receiving and disbursing funds on behalf of the Society;#* Assisting the Treasurer in the preparation of such financial reports as the Board may request or the Treasurer deems needful;#* Keeping financial records for the Society and its Sub-Groups;#* Maintaining, in cooperation with the [[Assistant Secretary]], the current membership [[Roster|roster]]; and#* Tracking the financial contributions of members for the purpose of calculating who may be eligible for election to or promotion within the [[Fellowship]] system, or receipt of [[Awards|service awards]].
As should be obvious, this officer needs to be located near [[Headquarters]] to perform their duties. One might reasonably expect them to visit at least weekly, and more often when books are closing or reports are requested.
