/* Petition for Recognition of an Order (of Chivalry or Organization of a Chivalric Nature) */ mention that fees may be waived
=The chivalric activities of The Augustan Society, Inc., are largely conducted by the Chivalry=Committee. This consists of a Chairman appointed by and serving at the pleasure of the President, and such committee members as said Chairman may appoint, subject to the Policy on Committee Membership.
The Chivalry Department would engage in the following activities:
Chivalry Committee
The Chivalry Committee is composed of Under a chairman named by the Chivalry ChairmanPresident, the chairmen of any sub-committees assigned to the Chivalry Department, such additoinal members with knowledge in this field serve primarily as advisers to the Chairman sees fit, and Board. Their particular duties include making recommendations on the Orders of Chivalry (and similar organizations), and on recognition of individuals' membership and rank in those organizations. They also assist the ConsulsWebmaster as ex officio membersin maintaining the list of commonly used postnominals.
The Chairman is named by the President and serves at his pleasure. The members are named by the Chairman, and serve at his pleasure.==Petition for Recognition of an Order (of Chivalry or Organization of a Chivalric Nature)==
All activities of Those wishing the Chivalry Department fall under the control of this Chivalry Committee unless the Board Society to recognize their Order or Chairman has created another Committee and charged them with responsibilityorganization may petition for such membership. There is normally a charge for such reviews.
Recognition of Membership & Rank in Orders of Chivalry
Presently, the Chivalry Committee will consider recognition Augustan Society Members who are members of a Recognized Order of Chivalry may file a petition for the Society to recognize their rank and membership, which will permit the Society's use of the appropriate postnominals and paymentother honorifics. Delistings are done motu propicioThere is normally a charge for such reviews.
While it seems that the Chivalry Committee have a very clear idea ==Recognition of what constitutes or disqualifies an Order from respectability, this needs to be documented for the guidance Promotion of those who follow. These standards should also be published, so as to offer perspective on our list Rank in Orders of recognitions.Chivalry==
We should work toward the goal of Augustan Society Members who have been recognized as having a fully comprehensive Membership and public listing Rank in an Order of Orders the Society considers worthyChivalry may request an update to their rank upon application to Headquarters. We should also maintain a private list of those we have found unworthyHeadquarters Staff, along in consultation with the disqualifying conditionsChivalry Committee Chairman may grant recognition of such promotions without petition, so as to speed reconsideration should those changefee, or certificate. An amended certificate of recognition will be created upon request and so staff can answer either "yes", "no", or "we haven't yet considered them" as appropriatepayment of the Certificate Fee.
Recognition of Membership in Orders of ChivalryAcademic Degrees and Fellowships
Presently, Augustan Society Members who hold academic degrees or fellowships in learned societies may petition for the Chivalry Committee Society to recognize their achievements, which will consider recognition permit the Society's use of rank the appropriate postnominals and membership in recognized Orders only when presented with a petition and paymentother honorifics. Delistings are done only under exceptional circumstancesThere is no charge for such reviews, usually involving deliberate fraud which are conducted by the individualHeadquarters Staff, though they may call on various departments for support as felt needed.
While it seems that the Chivalry Committee have a very clear idea of what constitutes adequate evidence of membership and rank, this needs to be documented for the guidance of those who follow. It is recognized that Orders vary from very public notice to secretive about their memberships, so it won't be a "one size fits all" approach.
Maintenance of a List of PostnominalsUsed
There is presently a This list of postnominals (, maintained by the Webmaster in consultation with the Chivalry Committee and their definitions) on others, shows postnominals that have been used by the web siteSociety at some point. It is inadequate They include many ranks in scopeRecognized Orders of Chivalry, undocumented in sourceand many other postnominals including honorific, chivalric, academic, religious, professional, fellowship, and comes without the support military honors. It is not suggested that this is a complete listing of such, only those the Chivalry Department (Society has found it being a webmaster project)has need of. Neither does inclusion in this list suggest that these postnominals or the Orders associated with them are presently recognized by the Society.
This list needs to be expanded to include all postnominals:==The Noble Company of the Rose==
* Recognized Under a Magister Rosae elected by the Society* Used in Society publications past its members and present* Used by a council appointed by him, this subsidiary of Society is an international confraternity of knights and dames (plus a few esquires) dedicated to cordial relations between the Orders , and to maintenance of Chivalrya chapelat Society Headquarters (at those times when a public Headquarters exists). The Noble Company is not an order of chivalry, etcnor should any claim to such be countenanced.
The list should indicate which are currently valid and which are currently recognized by the Society. Obsolete and currently unrecognized postnominals need to be included for this list to have optimal utility.
The list must, as a result of the above, include a substantial and unavoidable disclaimer disavowing recognition of those postnominals not so marked.==Communications==
