One of the primary subjects principle topics studied by members of The Augustan Society, Inc., is medieval history, and the Crusades form a major part of that history. While there is a [[Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem Study Group]] that focuses on the history of that Kingdom, and a [[Descents from the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem Study Group]] that focuses on descents from those who lived or fought there, the history of the Crusades overall is a distinct topic, and it is appropriate for the Society to include a Crusades Study Group to study that topic specifically.
