The primary drawback to this option are is fairly obvious: the wrong person in office could lead to the failure of the Society. There is also the challenge of finding (and adequately compensating) a qualified individual.
It is not clear if this is a worthy experiment, and it has not yet been formally proposed to the Board or membership. It would require a vote of the Membership to adopt.
