The [[Genealogy|Genealogy Department]] and the [[Genealogy Committee]] of The Augustan Society, Inc., are headed by the '''Genealogy Committee Chairman''' who is named by and serves at the pleasure of the [[President]]. He is responsible for the genealogical activities of the Genealogy Committee Society and overseeing any subcommitteesits sub-groups.
The duties of the Genealogy Committee Chairman include:
Procedures for lineage approval:
# <ol><li>Receive application</li># </li>Examine application for sources and whether they meet our requirements</li># </li>If so, check sources to verify whether it supports the lineage claim. if not, request better sources from applicant</li># </li>If data is verified, application is approved. </li># </li>If verifiable data is not listed in original application, or not forthcoming after it is requested, application is denied and applicant advised to try again later with verifiable sources</li># </li>Obtain a vote of the majority of the Genealogy Committee concurring on the adequacy of the lineage, and submit same to the [[Board]] for confirmation.</li></ol>
