In order to recruit and retain members, The Augustan Society, Inc., has created a Membership Committee. It is chaired by Board of Directors disbanded the [[Membership Committee Chairman]], who is appointed by in September 2022 and serves at the pleasure of assigned all duties to the [[PresidentSecretary]].
 What follows is the description of the Membership Committee, should it be decided to reinstate same. In order to recruit, retain, and recover members, The Augustan Society, Inc., has need of a '''Membership Committee'''. The Committee is under the direction of the Secretary. They may name any number of members to the committee. The [[President]] and [[Headquarters Staff]] are ex-officio members. The Committee is responsible for providing the overall leadership, planning , and oversight for , and implementation of the Society's strategy for membership developmentand retention, and for marketing of Society membership.
Duties of the committee include:
* <ul><li>Driving and leading new membership growth, satisfaction, and retention;</li>
* Ensuring strategic focus and alignment with <li>Conducting periodic [[Skill Needs Survey|Skill Needs Surveys]] to determine what skills are needed by the Society's organization objectives, operational strategy, various Committees and market needsSub-Groups;</li>
* Developing programs and services directed towards building stronger relationships between <li>Conducting periodic [[Member Skills Survey|Member Skills Surveys]] to determine what skills are posessed by members who might be asked to put them to use on behalf of the Society various Committees and its membersSub-Groups;</li>
* <li>Conducting periodic [[Member Interest Survey|Member Interest Surveys]] to monitor members interests and identify potential volunteers;</li> <li>Ensuring strategic focus and alignment with the Society's organization objectives, operational strategy, and market needs;</li> <li>Developing programs and services directed towards building stronger relationships between the Society and its members;</li> <li>Growing the Society's global membership base.</li> <li>Conducting renewal processes in a timely manner, with suitable provisions for updating the membership database.</li> <li>Conducting recovery processes for those who fail to renew. Goals of this process are both to recover the member, and to determine the reasons they chose not to renew, and to communicate this data as may be felt constructive.</li></ul> At times, sub-committees have been created and assigned some of these duties: * Membership Retention Sub-Committee was assigned the task of contacting lapsed members to either recover their membership or determine the reason for their departure. Disbanded February 2021. * Membership Recruitment Sub-Committee was assigned the task of recruiting new members through personal contact, public speaking, and advertising. Disbanded February 2021. * Marketing Sub-Committee was assigned the task of marketing the Society outside of member recruitment. Disbanded March 2021. Members of the Committee should demonstrate understanding of: <ul><li>The overall member experience and membership performance, including member needs globally and by areas of interest;</li> <li>Analysis and preparation of plans to address differences and similarities across groups;</li> <li>Developing and orchestrating the enterprise-wide member value proposition;</li> <li>Defining the member research agenda and priorities;</li> <li>Overseeing integrated member benefits in consultation with the [[Order of the Augustan Eagle]];</li> <li>Overseeing membership segments development; and</li> <li>Overseeing product management activities.</li></ul> The Committee must hold meetings (in person, by teleconference, videoconference, or email) and achieve a majority concurrance for any actions or recommendations to be made to the Board. Such documentation is required to comply with state law and to ensure that Agenda items carry the approval of a majority of the Committee.
Membership Committee members should demonstrate understanding of the overall member experience and membership performance, including member needs globally and by areas of interest, analyzing and preparing plans to address differences and similarities across groups. This includes developing and orchestrating the enterprise-wide member value proposition; defining the member research agenda and priorities; overseeing integrated member benefits and overseeing membership segments development and product management activities.
