In order to recruit and retain members, The Augustan Society, Inc., has need Board of a '''Directors disbanded the Membership Committee'''. For reasons not well understood, it has been created a "Committee-of-the-Whole" of in September 2022 and assigned all duties to the [[Board]]. Thus it is chaired by the [[President]], absent his delegation of that role to another [[Directors|DirectorSecretary]].
As a Committee-of-the-Whole, it's members are de jure the members of the Board of Directors. Thus all Directors are Members of the Committee, with [[Headquarters Staff]] as ex-officio members.
What follows is the description of the Membership Committee, should it be decided to reinstate same. In order to recruit, retain, and recover members, The Augustan Society, Inc., has need of a '''Membership Committee-'''. The Committee is under the direction of-theSecretary. They may name any number of members to the committee. The [[President]] and [[Headquarters Staff]] are ex-Whole officio members. The Committee is responsible for providing the overall leadership, planning, and oversight for , and implementation of the Society's strategy for membership development and retention, and for marketingof Society membership.
Duties of the committee include:

<li>Driving and leading new membership growth, satisfaction, and retention;</li>
<li>Conducting periodic [[Member Interest Survey|Member Interest Surveys]] to monitor members interests and identify potential volunteers;</li>
<li>Conducting periodic [[Skill Needs Survey|Skill Needs Surveys]] to determine what skills are needed by the various Committees and Sub-Groups;</li>
<li>Conducting periodic [[Member Skills Survey|Member Skills Surveys]] to determine what skills are posessed by members who might be asked to put them to use on behalf of the various Committees and Sub-Groups;</li>
<li>Conducting periodic [[Member Interest Survey|Member Interest Surveys]] to monitor members interests and identify potential volunteers;</li>
<li>Ensuring strategic focus and alignment with the Society's organization objectives, operational strategy, and market needs;</li>
<li>Growing the Society's global membership base.</li>
<li>Conducting renewal processes in a timely manner, with suitable provisions for updating the membership database.</li>
<li>Conducting recovery processes for those who fail to renew. Goals of this process are both to recover the member, and to determine the reasons they chose not to renew, and to communicate this data as may be felt constructive.</li>
</ul>
* Marketing Sub-Committee was assigned the task of marketing the Society outside of member recruitment. Disbanded March 2021.
Members of the Committee-of-the-Whole should demonstrate understanding of:
<ul>
<li>Defining the member research agenda and priorities;</li>
<li>Overseeing integrated member benefitsin consultation with the [[Order of the Augustan Eagle]];</li>
<li>Overseeing membership segments development; and</li>
</ul>
As this is a committee of the Board, and not identical to it, the The Committee must hold meetings (in person, by teleconference, videoconference, or email) and achieve a majority concurrance for any actions or recommendations to be made to the Board, notwithstanding that they are the same people. Such documentation is required both the to comply with state law and to avoid filling Board minutes with ensure that Agenda items carry the actions approval of a majority of the Committee (where they do not belong).
