The editor is responsible for preparing articles for publication In addition, this person is also responsible for soliciting articles from the membership and assisting them, with the aid of associate editors and proofreaders, preparing these items for our journal.

Following is our procedure for publishing issues of the journal:

1. Article received by Editor.

2. Editor does preliminary review about publishability, possible rejection.

3. Editor confirms that the article is previously unpublished, and that copyright clearances are provided for all images submitted. Copyright release forms need to be developed and deployed, probably at this point.

4. Editor performs a quick survey of sources to confirm that most necessary data is available (even if out of standard format).

5. Article is placed on list "to be edited".

6. Articles are selected from the "to be edited" list and assigned to Associate Editors.

7. Associate Editors provide copy editing (including planting text references to illustrations and tables, if needed), write captions for photos and titles for tables as needed, confirm sources, and convert all to standard article format.

8. Article is returned to Editor for review, possible return to Associate Editor.

9. Article is sent to proofreaders

10. Article is submitted to the Editor-in-Chief for review, possible return to Editor.

11. Article is sent to a different proofreader than in step 9

12. Repeat item 10 for last minute corrections

13. Article is placed on list "to be published".
