update for new web site
The procedure for handling each is slightly different.
In both cases Previously, a [[Petition for Membership]] is was required. Normally, and these are completed by still available, primarily to promote membership. However, given that the petitioner CitySoft web site has the ability to accept memberships, renewals, and returned either on paper or electronicallyreinstatments directly, petitions are no longer required. In rare cases Paper petitions, [[Headquarters Staff]] may create a petition when one printouts of PDF petitions, and other formats with membership data are filed under the member's name. It is understood that some data will exist only on the web site; these do not submittedneed to be printed.
Once the petition and payment are in hand at Headquarters, the procedure is:
<li>Check the [[Membership Book]] to see if the petition is a former member. If so, refer to the procedure under [[Return to Membership]].</li>
<li>Enter the petitioner's name in the Membership Book and assign a . A [[Membership Number]]should be assigned by the web site. In cases where one is not, a transation of $0 is entered with the "assign number" box checked.</li>
<li>Create Review or create a member record on the web site. Adjust entries to standard format.</li> <li>For those who join online, [[SecretaryHeadquarters Staff]] will send an email of welcome with a PDF copy of the current 's Welcome'[[August&aelig;um]] '' attached. <ul><li>''Note: At present, most email sent to Gmail addresses is being bounced. In such cases, [[Headquarters Staff]] will ask a volunteer with a Gmail account to forward.''</li></ul></li> <li>Create a Welcome letter from the [[Secretary]] (presently signed electronically).</li>
<li>Create a [[Membership Card]], signed by a member of Headquarters Staff.</li>
<li>Create a Welcome memo from [[Headquarters Staff]].</li>
<li>Mail the above four items, plus the current ''[[August&aelig;umAugustan Omnibus]]'' and to the new member. If they did not join online, also send the current ''[[Augustan OmnibusAugust&aelig;um]]'' to the new member.</li>
<li>Notify the [[Custodian of Insignia]] to send a [[Insignia|Member Pin]] to the new member.</li>
<li>Enter Add a notice of the new member's data into to the [[RosterAgenda]] for the next regular meeting of the [[Board]].</li>
<li>Send an email notice to the [[Directors]], [[Committee Chairmen]] who such officers as have requested such notice, and the [[Dean of Studies]] informing them of the new member.</li>
