The senior [[Sub-Groups]] of The Augustan Society, Inc., are each ruled by a Council composed of six members. These officers do not have clearly defined duties, and the resultant confusion has made the operation of each, and the administration of both, more difficult than it ought to be. As a result, in 2015 the Administrator of the two groups has convened a '''Sub-Group Governance Committee''' to address the matter and to recommend what offices and titles properly deserve to be used, and to align the titles and duties of the two groups to the extent that's reasonable. This effort failed for lack of willing participation by representatives of the two Sub-Groups, and the committee was terminated in 2016.
Membership in this committee consists consisted of the Administrator and a representative of each group. While it is preferable that the leader of each group name their representative, the Administrator may appoint members when they do not.
Progress has been was slow, but agreement has been was reached on several points:
* Titles to be used will should be addressed at the end of the process, with functions being addressed first.
* That each group deserves to be governed by a Council, and not by a single officer.
* That each group needs a chief, a vice-chairman who can step in at need, a secretary, and a treasurer.
* That at least the [[Noble Company of the Rose]] has unique functions that deserve unique officers; and perhaps the [[Order of the Augustan Eagle]] does as well.
Work began slowly, and has now stopped as both representatives resigned. When work The current plan is completed and a new slate to ask the chiefs of officers for each Council is adopted, including order to propose job descriptions for eachoffice, which the results will be presented to the two Councils [[Assistant Webmaster for consideration (if they are able to meet)Wiki]] will upload when received, or to pending amendment of the [[BoardRule of the Order]] for adoption, with consequent amendment and [[Rule of the Company]]. The [[Eagle Administrator|Eagle]] or [[Rose Administrator]] will prepare appropriate motions to amend the Rulesfor Council review.
