The Augustan Society, Inc., covers the field of [[Heraldry]]. This field is rather broad, and national traditions vary substantially in laws, rules, customs, and language. Thus it is considered prudent to name a number of '''Vice-Justiciars''', each an expert in one national heraldic tradition.
These officers are styled "Vice-Justiciar for American Heraldry", ..."Germanic Heraldry", etc. They are appointed by the [[Justiciar General]] and serve at his pleasure. There is no limit to the number of Vice-Justiciars that may be appointed, save that only and more than one shall may be appointed for each heraldic jurisdiction. Should While these additional help offerciers should properly be desired for a jurisdiction, termed "Assistant Vice-Justiciars" , it is understood that this may not be namedpolitically wise in some situations.
''Note: The United Kingdom shall be considered two jurisdictions as the College of Arms and the Lord Lyon do not have overlapping jurisdiction.''
