These groups share several common features:
*Dues are life dues, and the same amount applies no matter how many classes of membership are petitioned at once.*Joining in additional classes at a later date incurs an entry fee one half that of initial membership.*Benefits are limited to a certificate of membership, and such insignia [[Insignia]] as may be produced.*Presently approved insignia are a lapel pin of the badge.*Each group has a badge in the form of an inescutcheon, with suitable design.*Each group has arms in the form of the shield of The Augustan Society with the badge as an inescutcheon; no crest, helm, or mantling.*It has been proposed that each group may display the design of their badge with a chief of The Augustan Society as a gonfalon with seven points, but this has not yet been implemented.
Among the changes over the years are:
*Members may be inducted by staff [[Headquarters Staff]] once the prerequisites are confirmed; Board election is no longer required.*Membership in The Augustan Society is no longer a pre-requisite.*Postnominals are no longer awarded or recognized.*Some groups have breast plates in stock; these may be sold to members who are also members-in-good-standing [[Good Standing]] of The Augustan Society while supplies last.
