The History Department of The Augustan Society, Inc., would engage in the following activities:
Contents
History Committee
The History Committee is composed of the History Chairman, the members of other committees assigned to the History Department, such members as the Chairman sees fit, and the President and Consuls as ex officio members.
The Chairman is named by the President and serves at his pleasure. The members are named by the Chairman, and serve at his pleasure.
All activities of the History Department fall under the control of this Committee unless the Board or Chairman has created another Committee and charged them with responsibility.
Proposal: The Society should make serious efforts to staff this Department, as an historical organization with no history activities is something of an oxymoron.
Study Groups
Historically, the Society has supported a number of specialized Study Groups, many in the field of history. At present, only a few are active.
Proposal: The Society should promote the creation and activities of Study Groups, including both those that have existed in the Society's past and new Augustan topics.
First Peoples Committee
The First Peoples Committee studies Native Americans with an emphasis on the pre-Columbian period, including original immigration and migration and petroglyphs.
The Chairman is named by the History Chairman, and serves at his pleasure. Other members are named by the First Peoples Chairman and serve at his pleasure.
