The Augustan Society, Inc., has created the Family of Augustans Study Group. This page details the procedure to be employed by members of this group in processing lineages.
- Examine each chart or article for common ancestors already computerized in a master file. This is available at the Augustan Society Headquarters and can be requested via email. It is in GED format. (Note: Headquarters is unaware of this master file.)
- Record any common ancestor found. This can be done via pen and paper, or as a computer text file. Mention of common ancestors can be made via the email in step 9 and in any newsletter announcement regarding this project.
- Computerize the chart or article up to offspring and spouse of common ancestor.
- Create a GED file of the lineage.
- Merge personal file with master file. Connect the two at the common ancestor.
- Continue computerizing the personal chart to completion by including ancestors or descendants as relevant of the common ancestor.
- Add new people as needed from the personal chart to the master file.
- Save the revised master and personal files in GED format.
- Email both GED files to headquarters
