The specific duties of the Justiciar General include:
* <ul><li>Administering the heraldic activities of the Heraldry CommitteeSociety, including specifically the review of petitions for [[Registration of Arms]];</li> * <li>Appointing a [[Deputy Justiciar Genera]]l (committee vice-chairman) within his first year in office, and keeping them sufficiently well informed that they may take over at need;</li>* <li>Appointing an [[Arms Chancellor]] to assist with tracking and record-keeping for arms registration, should he feel the need;</li>* <li>Appointing the members of the Heraldry Committee, including artists (volunteer), [[Vice-Justiciars]] for each heraldic jurisdiction, and such others as he may see fit;</li>* <li>Arranging for contracts with paid heraldic artists when no suitable volunteers are available;</li> * <li>Assisting or delegating, when called upon with heraldic issues submitted by other committees;</li>* <li>Coordinating projects that fall under the scope of this committee; and</li> * <li>Submitting an [[Annual Report]] to the [[Board]] (via the [[Assistant Secretary]]) each July.</li></ul>
