Except for Chief of the Order (of the Augustan Eagle), it is frowned upon for the President to hold other offices such as a committee chairman, dean, or Study Group [[Coordinator]]. Membership in such groups is acceptable, but great care must be taken not to offend or overrule the sitting chairman while doing so.
The President, in his capacity as the official face of the Society, may designate special liaisons to other groups. To date, such have been appointed for:
* American College of Heraldry
* International Association of Amateur Heralds
* Medal and Order Society of America
* Royal Heraldry Society of Canada
