The chief executive officer of The Augustan Society, Inc., is the '''President'''. He is elected annually by and from the [[Board|Board of Directors]]. His membership on the Board is his only qualification.
He is tasked to:
# Execute deeds, mortgages, bonds, contracts, checks, and other instruments, though the responsibility for these may be assigned to others with the consent of the Board. Often these powers are delegated to a [[Business Agent]].
# Appoint the Chairmen of all Committees (but not committee members or sub-committee chairmen).
# Serve as an ex officio member of all standing committees of the corporationsave the [[Nominating Committee]].
# Serve as Chief of the Order of the [[Order of the Augustan Eagle]].
# Perform all other duties incident to his office and such other duties as may be required by law or by the [[By-Laws]], or which may be prescribed from time to time by the Board of Directors.
Except for Chief of the Order (of the Augustan Eagle), it is frowned upon for the President to hold other offices such as a committee chairman, dean, or study group [[Study Group]] coordinator. Membership in such groups is acceptable, but great care must be taken not to offend or overrule the sitting chairman while doing so.
