Fons Honorum

The fount of honour (Latin: fons honorum) refers to a person, who, by virtue of his or her official position, has the exclusive right of conferring legitimate titles of nobility and orders of chivalry to other persons.

The Augustan Society, in connection with its recognition of orders of chivalry and noble titles granted to individuals must, of necessity, consider the legitimacy of the fons honorum of the authority granting these honors.
