It has been proposed that The Augustan Society, Inc., create the office of '''Executive Director'''. This will require a majority vote of the [[Board]] to put the matter on the ballot, and a majority vote of the members to amend the [[By-Laws]]. Until that time, the qualifications, duties, and authority of this theoretical office are but theories. The Society does not presently have the office of Executive Director. The intent of the proposal is that the Board would meet only once per year, that primarily to confirm the appointment and set the compensation of the Executive Director, with the latter taking over the administraion of the Society, including all functions and powers of the [[President]] save his role as Chief of the [[Order of the Augustan Eagle]], and all functions and powers of the Board save the authority to amend the By-Laws.
Note: The contract with [[Consuls]] permit them to style themselves in many ways, including "Executive Director". This is so that those unfamiliar with the term consul (which is most of the modern world) can more readily understand the authority of the consul using that title. It has no bearing on an office by the same name, and authority to use that title will of course be rescinded by the creation of such an office.
