The Association of Knights Bachelor has never been affiliated with The Augustan Society, Inc., despite widespread rumors to the contrary, and despite being a project that the Society's Founder was very much involved in.

To the best current understanding, The Association of Knights Bachelor was created upon the failure (or possibly repudiation) of the Royal Association of Knights Bachelor. The latter was a creation of King Peter II of Yugoslavia. Both groups were intended to include all those who had been created a Knight Bachelor of Yugoslavia.

Because the late King bid members of the Royal Association to address each other as "Sir", it was at one time felt that Yugoslavian Knights Bachelor had the right to such prenominal in all situations. It is today not at all clear that this is what the King intended, and the Society has discontinued recognition of such a right.

At last report — circa 2007 — the Royal Association of Knights Bachelor was quite defunct, and the Association of Knights Bachelor was left in the hands of Governor General Jeffrey "Mick" Mickelson of Texas. Contact information will be provided to any reasonable person on request.

The Association of Knights Bachelor is not at present affiliated with or recognized by the Society in any way, save that it's Governor General is presently a member of the Society.
