The Augustan Society, Inc., publishes a journal, presently semi-annually.

Formal title: The Augustan Omnibus: An International Journal of History, Heraldry, Genealogy, and Chivalry

Short title: The Augustan Omnibus

Informal title: Omnibus

Note: The Formal title should probably be expanded to include either "Royalty", "Nobility", or both. There has been some discussion of this point with the Royalty & Nobility Committee, but they seem conflicted about whether "Nobility" is sufficiently encompassing.

Specific points of style include:

  • Serial commas in all situations — alpha, beta, and gamma
  • Date format is day month year — 18 August 1957
  • Calendar designation shall be either "BC" or "AD" whenever there may be ambiguity — AD 1957 or 3400 BC, but 2 January 201 AD
  • Acronyms composed of initials shall omit periods — thus USA, FAS, PhD
  • Footnotes, if not too numerous, shall use symbols — * † ‡ ** †† ‡‡
  • Footnotes go at the bottom of columns, not grouped at the bottom of the page.
  • Endnotes are referenced by numerals within square brackets in text — [1], not 1
  • Endnotes are listed by numerals followed by a closing square bracket — 1], not [1]
