In this modern age, The Augustan Society, Inc., needs a presence on Facebook, and that presence needs moderation. Thus the office of Facebook Moderator is needed. He is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Social Media Chairman (or lacking one, the Editor-in-Chief.

The duties of the Facebook Moderator are:

  • To regularly monitor the Society's Facebook page, alerting other officers to items of interest found there;
  • To regularly monitor the Society's Facebook page, deleting items that he deems detrimental to the reputation of the Society;
  • To regularly post items on the Society's Facebook page that are submitted by other officers, or which might be of interest to a significant fraction of the membership.

Details such as the definition of "regularly" as used above need to be established by the Facebook Moderator and approved by the Editor-in-Chief. One would expect that the first two items would be at least weekly, and the last at least monthly, though more frequent work could work to the benefit of the Society.
