The Genealogy Committee of The Augustan Society, Inc., provides a service to review and recommend Approved Lineages, that are submitted to the Society for any of a number of purposes.
The exact standards of this approval have not yet been defined. They will be more relaxed than the Genealogical Proof Standard to be used for Certified Lineages.
At present, the standards for approval are simply the discretion of the Genealogy Committee, as they must obtain a majority vote in favor of each lineage for it to be recommended to the Board for acceptance. It is to be hoped that the Genealogy Committee Chairman will clearly define those standards and post them here.
For an approved lineage to be acceptable for induction into one of the society's Lineage Groups, the Genealogy Committee must submit to Headquarters Staff the signed petition, the lineage in Standard Lineage Format (including source references), a count of the generations included, and the time spent to review and approve the lineage.
