Vigil
One of the books in preparation by The Augustan Society, Inc., is Vigil: A Knight's Training Program.
This book is to be a training program for knights and postulants, and will largely be based on the work of the late Wilson Van Dusen, MR.
The base edition will be generic, addressing issues that all knights might reasonably address. Special editions will add chapters appropriate to the Noble Company of the Rose and to any Recognized Order who will participate. It is not contemplated that data on each specific Order be distributed throughout the text, as this would significantly enlarge the task of producing each edition.
It is anticipated that the base edition will be published to the general public, and that the specific editions will be sold only to or through the various Orders. It may also be that a subscription is offered, to include a looseleaf base edition plus supplements for each Order which receives coverage, or is revised.
While there is a natural affinity with the Rose Training Program, and the offices of the Noble Company of the Rose must be involved in the Rose Edition and almost certainly involved in the others (at least at the level of making introductions), this project is presently under the auspices of the Communications Department, who will produce, price, advertise, and sell the volumes, subject to support from the Marketing Committee. Should the Noble Company and Rose Training Officer so choose, the editorial aspects will be transferred to them.
It has not yet been determined if this is to be published in hardcover or soft, and one expects that decision to be delayed until a page count estimate is in hand. It may be that due to the "workbook" nature of the volume that spiral binding may be appropriate.
