Proofreader
The accuracy of publications of The Augustan Society, Inc., being of primary importance, it is important that Proofreaders be named to review edited copy to ensure it substantially conforms to the intent of the authors. Proofreaders are appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Omnibus Editor.
As each article completes editing, the final edit and a copy as close as possible to the original submission will be sent to a Proofreader for review. If a response is not heard in a reasonable time (generally one month), the article may be redirected to another Proofreader. Only once such work has been completed and unintended changes corrected will an article be deemed fit to print.
The procedures to be used by each Proofreader is left to them, as there are many worthy ways to proof.
The Omnibus Editor should conduct occasional test, sending articles to more than one Proofreader, as a check on the quality of their work. This should especially be tried with new Proofreaders, but not to the extent it delays publication.
