To lighten the burden of the Omnibus Editor, editor of the journal of The Augustan Society, Inc., it is appropriate to delegate some of the work of editing to one or more Associate Editors.
The duties of the Associate Editors are to edit the articles and reviews referred to them by the Omnibus Editor, correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, and especially citation format, all to conform to the Style Manual. They should also work with the authors to clarify obscure wording or citations, and to select at least one illustration for each article (or a cover scan for reviews).
They should confirm the copyright status of all illustrations, and direct the authors to secure releases if needed.
Once they feel the article has been made the best it can be, they return it to the Omnibus Editor for review, proofreading, and publication.
This somewhat vague procedure is left that way because each editor may have their own approach to the work, and barring problems, it seems unhelpful to constrain them.
