Members may resign from membership in The Augustan Society, Inc., at any time. Resignations must be in writing; email is acceptable. They will take effect immediately upon receipt unless some other date is specified.

Resignation from membership will also be taken as resignation from all offices held, elected or appointed.

Members resigning will forfeit the value of any undelivered subscriptions attached to their membership. Subscriptions purchased separately from membership will continue. Life Subscriptions of members will expire with the issue next following their resignation.

Resigning members may, at Staff discretion, be sent an invitation to subscribe.

The procedure for processing resignations:

  1. HQ: Mark the member as "No" for both "Member Active" and "Always Mail Pubs" in the main database.
  2. HQ: If possible, adjust the expiration date in the main database to conform to the date of resignation.
  3. HQ: If items are being held for mailing, delete those that apply only to offices formerly held and mail the rest.
  4. Assistant Secretary: Enter the date of resignation in the working Roster, adjusting subscription flags as appropriate.
  5. Assistant Secretary: Enter the date of resignation in the Membership Book, along with the reason, if known.
  6. Assistant Secretary: Add a note of the resignation to the Consent Calendar of the next available Board Agenda.
  7. Assistant Secretary: Notify any Sub-Groups of the resignation.
  8. Assistant Secretary: Notify any Committee Chairmen of the resignation.
  9. Webmaster: Make such changes in the main website as are necessary to remove the name of the former member.
  10. Postmaster: Remove any email forwarding set up for the former member.
