Membership
Membership in The Augustan Society, Inc., may be in any one of four classes: Regular Membership, Student Membership, Life Membership, Sponsored Membership, or Honorary Membership.
Procedures for handling each class are outlined on the pages linked above.
Note that Membership is not the same as being a subscriber. While a subscription is included with membership, they are not identical. It is quite possible to have non-member subscribers.
Membership Privileges are set by the Eagle Council and apply only to Members in Good Standing.
Rank within the Society is determined by the Warrant of Precedence which is set by the Eagle Council, though sections applying to the Senior Sub-Groups are set by those organizations.
Sponsored Membership is offered to Fellows who are temporarily or permanently unable to afford their dues. Who will be sponsored is also subject to policies and budgets in force from time to time, but it has not yet been found necessary to deny sponsorship to any Fellow.
Resignation of membership must be in writing (email is acceptable), and is effective immediately upon receipt at Headquarters even if a later date is specified.
Life Members must make some contact with Headquarters every three years or be removed from the active roster, after written notice of same is sent. Such inactive Life Members may be returned to active status by contacting Headquarters.
Return to Membership — except for Life Members as described abvoe — is a different process than new membership, and has a different procedure.
Membership recruitment is the responsibility of the Membership Committee.
