The By-Laws of The Augustan Society, Inc., mandate that a Membership Book be kept (§5.08e).

While the By-Laws assign responsibility for keeping the Membership Book to the Secretary, for practical reasons this has been delegated to the Assistant Secretary.

The Membership Book is to be kept at the principal office of the corporation, and contain the name and address of each Member, and, in any case where membership has been terminated, the date on which the membership ceased.

For practical reasons, current addresses are no longer kept in the Membership Book but in the working Roster. In addition, the book includes the class of membership and the cause of termination of membership, where known.

At present, the Membership Book exists as a data file. It can and will be printed or translated into a useful format upon any reasonable request.
