Certificates are issued by The Augustan Society, Inc., as evidence of Society action on any number of topics. These topics may include:

  • Membership in the Society or its sub-groups
  • Fellowship or Awards of the Society
  • Registration of Arms
  • Recognition of Orders of Chivalry*
  • Recognition of Orders of Chivalry qualifying members for the Society of Descendants of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem*
  • Recognition of membership and rank in Orders of Chivalry*
  • Recognition of royal or noble titles*
  • Recognition of loyalty (multiples of 10-year membership)
  • Acceptance of lineages*
  • Resolutions of thanks or commendation

* These certificates are issued only upon request and payment of a fee, the others are automatically generated upon the actions of the Board or others.

While the design of certificates may vary, all must include the following elements:

  • The arms of the Society
  • The arms of the relevent sub-group, if any
  • The full name of the Society
  • The name of any relevant sub-group of the Society
  • The name of the recipient, with all titles, pre- and post-nominals then recognized
  • The signatures of the responsible officers
  • When reflecting Board actions, the signature of the Secretary
  • The embossed seal of the Society

Note: Signatures may be applied electronically with the permission of the signers, provided a copy of each such applied signature is sent to the signer.

Presently, the design includes:

  • Goldenrod stock, 8½×11"; except for certificates of registration of arms, which are on white stock, 11×17" folded once
  • Full color printing
  • A gold foil under the seal

The specific officers responsible for each certificate are listed on the pages that reference them.
