The Augustan Society, Inc., has assigned the task of Registration of Arms to the Heraldry Committee. It was, for a time, delegated to an Arms Registration Committee, but that proved unworkable. It is under the direction of the Justiciar General (as the Chairman is styled), and he is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the President. The web page that addresses this topic is here.

Members of the Committee include:

Justiciar General, the style of the chairman Deputy Justiciar General, the style of the vice-chairman Arms Chancellor, the style of the secretary Vice-Justiciars for each of the various nations or traditions of heraldry Heraldic Artists And, ex officio, the President and Assistant Secretary

Policies:

  1. The Society will register achievements of arms for both members and non-members, including corporations and other such groups.
  2. Armorial devices for Society sub-groups are also handled by this committee, as are standards for such.
  3. Pricing for registration will be based on several factors:
    1. A certificate fee set to cover the cost of forms, certificates, and mailings
    2. A registration fee set arbitrarily (presently $100)
    3. An artist fee set based on the cost of professional artwork, even if the artwork is being done by volunteers, as follows:
      1. Base fee is for shield, helmet, mantling, crest, and motto
      2. Additional fee for supporters and compartment
      3. Additional fee for each chivalric or noble additament (this does not apply to simple coronets of rank)
      4. Additional fee for royal pavilion
  4. Petition for Registration of Arms
  5. Determination of fees
  6. Procedure for review and approval — presently established by the Justiciar General
  7. Letter of notification — sent from HQ, copy to Augustæum Editor
  8. Certificate of Registration — sent from HQ, signed by the President, Justiciar General, and Seal
