The Augustan Society, Inc., has assigned the task of Registration of Arms to the Heraldry Committee. (It was, for a time, delegated to an Arms Registration Committee, but committee has been disbanded.) It is under the direction of the Justiciar General (as the Chairman is styled), and he is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the President. The web page that addresses this topic is here.

Members of the Committee include:

  • Justiciar General, the style of the chairman;
  • Deputy Justiciar General, the style of the vice-chairman;
  • Arms Chancellor, the style of the secretary;
  • Vice-Justiciars for each of the various nationalities or traditions of heraldry;
  • Heraldic Artists, (note that artists for hire are not usually made members of the Committee);
  • Such additional members as the Justiciar General may choose to appoint;
  • And, ex officio, the President and Headquarters Staff.

Policies:

  1. The Society will register achievements of arms for both members and non-members, including corporations and other such groups.
  2. Armorial devices for Society sub-groups are also handled by this committee, as are standards for such.
  3. Pricing for registration is set by the Board of Directors upon the advice of the Justiciar General and Assistant Secretary.
  4. Petition for Registration of Arms
  5. Procedure for review and approval — presently established by the Justiciar General
  6. Letter of notification — sent from Headquarters, notice to Augustæum Editor
  7. Certificate of Registration — sent from Headquarters, signed by the President, Justiciar General, and Sealed by the Assistant Secretary
