As The Augustan Society, Inc., publishes The Augustan Society Roll of Arms and has proposed publishing The Rose Roll of Arms, there needs to exist the office of Rolls Editor. He is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Books Editor.

Duties of the Rolls Editor are to edit:

  • New volumes of The Augustan Society Roll of Arms;
  • Reprints of out-of-print volumes of The Augustan Society Roll of Arms (primarily those which need colorizing);
  • Editions of The Rose Roll of Arms;

and possibly others as may be developed.

These duties to include selecting the arms to be included, obtaining blazon translations with support from the Heraldry Committee, obtaining new emblazonments through the Heraldry Committee, and colorizing black & white drawings either himself or with the aid of such volunteers as he may choose to appoint.

The Board, Editor-in-Chief, or Books Editor may issue priorities for which arms are to be given priority for publication. When choices need be made within the boundaries of those given priorities, the Rolls Editor has final say.

He will work with the Production Editor to create the files needed to print the Rolls. He will not be responsible for printing, binding, marketing, or distribution, though he is expected to support those functions.
