An Assistant Treasurer may be elected annually by the Board of Directors upon the nomination of the Treasurer. When extant, his duties include:

  • Acting in the absence of the Treasurer or in the event of his inability or refusal to act; and
  • Such duties as may be assigned to him by the Treasurer or by the Board of Directors.

In practice, specific tasks include:

  • Receiving and disbursing funds on behalf of the Society;
  • Assisting the Treasurer in the preparation of such financial reports as the Board may request or the Treasurer deems needful;
  • Keeping financial records for the Society and its Sub-Groups;
  • Maintaining, in cooperation with the Assistant Secretary, the current membership roster; and
  • Tracking the financial contributions of members for the purpose of calculating who may be eligible for election to or promotion within the Fellowship system, or receipt of service awards.

As should be obvious, this officer needs to be located near Headquarters to perform their duties. One might reasonably expect them to visit at least weekly, and more often when books are closing or reports are requested.
