add hidden process for ancestral arms
One of the primary activities of The Augustan Society, Inc., is the '''Registration of Arms'''. Responsibility for reviewing the petitions submitted has been assigned to the [[Heraldry Committee]], who make recommendations to the [[Board]], which makes final determinations.

If a petitioner seeks to have arms registered in the name of an ancestor, the Society will only retroactively register arms for one generation past the oldest living generation. (For example, if the petitioner’s grandfather is still living, they may register arms in the name of their great-grandfather).

If the ancestor in question was from a nation or jurisdiction with its own official heraldic authority (as recognized by the Society), the Society will not register arms for the ancestor unless the ancestor also has a grant of arms from their national authority.
