The Fundraising Committee of The Augustan Society, Inc., is responsible for all fundraising activities, and for advising on suitable pricing and profit margins for all products offered by the Society. It is normally chaired by the Treasurer or a Fundraising Chairman who is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Treasurer.
Common fundraising programs include:
- Annual Fundraiser
- "Buy-A-Box" Program, to fund Library shelving and other equipment.
- Augustan Omnibus advertising
- Sponsorship campaign
- Book Repair campaign
Other programs may exist from time to time, and the Sub-Groups may operate their own fundraising programs outside the control of this Committee.
In some years, the Budget has been adopted with fundraising goals set without consulting this Committee, occasionally leading to unrealistic goals. This practice should be discouraged.
In some years, the Board has decided to forego the use of a Budget. Not as unwise as it may appear, at this point our only discretionary spending is on Collection Development, Book Repair, and the rare capital purchase, all of which will be submitted to the Board for prior approval.
