The Augustan Society, Inc., needs heraldic (or quasi-heraldic) symbology, both for identification of the Society as a whole, and for some of its offices and subdivisions. The task of creating and registering Society Arms and Logos is assigned to the Heraldry Committee

To provide some consistency and proportionality for Society arms and logos, the following hierarchy is established:

  1. Society: Shield, crest, motto, supporters, and compartment.
    1. The Augustan Society, Inc.
      1. Society arms — registered; full achievement including supporters and motto
      2. Society shield — registered; from the full achievement
      3. Society badge — registered; the rectangular version
      4. Society lapel pin
      5. Society rosette
    2. Fellowship: Oval pins to be worn on the medal of membership ribbon or on a lapel
      1. FAS lapel pin, an eagle displayed Sable fimbriated Or
      2. FAS/5 lapel pin — registered, Purpure an eagle displayed Sable
      3. FAS/4 lapel pin — registered, Vert an eagle displayed Sable
      4. FAS/3 lapel pin — registered, Azure an eagle displayed Sable
      5. FAS/2 lapel pin — registered, Gules an eagle displayed Sable
      6. FAS/1 lapel pin — registered, Or an eagle displayed Sable
      7. FAS/cl lapel pin — assumed, Or gutté Purpure an eagle displayed Sable (Fellowship cum laude is obsolete, and will be discontinued when the last holder has been promoted, resigns, or dies.)
