The Order of the Augustan Eagle, a dependency of The Augustan Society, Inc., is governed by a Council of the Order, commonly called the Eagle Council.

The Eagle Council is charged to meet at least annually. Meetings are chaired by the Chief of the Order, in his absence the gavel falls to other members in the order given above.

The duties of the Eagle Council include:

  • Making recommendations to the Board on changes to the Society's Mission Statement and Vision Statement
  • Setting Society membership privileges
  • Setting Society member discounts
  • Setting the Order of Precedence for the Society
  • Settling disputes between members in matters of honor, where both parties agree to accept the ruling of the Council (Note: This duty may be delegated to an uninvolved member or members of the Council, or if none are available, to an uninvolved member or members of the OAE.)
  • Establishing the specific duties of the component offices
  • Such other duties as may be delegated to them by the Board
